STATES (early season) -
Westland, MI
11-17-07:
Some surprises are nice. This is just how one of the compulsory
teams felt at the finish of their competition. The pre-season
concluded for the Lady Flames' levels 5 & 6 with the "official" ending
to Michigan's 'Early Season'... States, hosted by Michigan Academy of
Gymnastics in Westland, MI. That conclusion was, indeed, hiding a
polite revelation for the Level 5 team, as they engaged the competition,
and brought home the Silver (2nd place) Team Award. Samantha Smith
lead the L5's to their respectable finish with her 1st place All-Around
score (36.975). Katie Karadjoff lead the L6's to their 4th place
finish with a team best 36.125 All-Around.
If great beginnings are
any indication of favorable endings, then there is genuine reason for
2008 optimism. Keep up the great work! |

Forward Progress Camp
- Cuyahoga Falls, OH
11-2-07:
Our level 9’s traveled to Ohio for a weekend of opportunities. Region 5
Gymnastics organizes these training days to give the optional girls the
best coaching from around our region. 18 hours of tough gymnastics in 3
days, and some shopping too. Our girls worked hard and received lots of
complements. Jessica, Amanda and Courtney came home with new techniques
and more confidence. Jessica did tchachevs for the first time; that was
amazing, great job Jess. Amanda made some huge improvements on
blind-fulls and layout tsuks. Courtney got some great tips on her
½-½-front and did everything she was asked to do and then some. I was
very proud of the 3 girls. It was exciting to see them do so well.
