6-26-08:
June is typically a slow news month around the gym. Not because
their isn't much happening, but rather, it's a chaotic transition
period. The meet season and school year converge toward this one
month, fulfilling an intensive climactic crescendo in the lives of team
members and their families. This point of highest dramatic tension
inevitably resolves into a slower pace, as is needed. This slower
period shouldn't be confused with disinterest, as it is also an exciting
time as gymnasts are more free to experiment with expanding their skill
repertoire - many attend various training camps. Training groups
are also rearranged to reflect their next-season potential, including
the addition of new members as the Travel Team Try-outs resume.
June also brings with it the Annual Travel Team Awards Banquet which
means our little gym-pets are assured of looking nice once-per-year -
without ponytails :) Fun, summertime activities are in the
planning stages, especially during this Olympic year - Go Team USA!
Port Huron-to-Mackinaw Sailboat Race is always a highlight in our area
with Family Night and the International Parade - we're pretty sure you
haven't seen what we are going to do in the parade, so look for us!
Congrats to the 2008 Teams for a memorable, safe and
successful season. And also to our new Travel Teamers: Lexie
Davidson, Alyssa Lyon, Peyton Raymo, Kaia Scheffler, Avery Shell,
Christopher Bowles, Sergei Bowles, Jarrett Jones, and Carter Lane.
