Christmas Classic - Westland, MI
12-12-09:  The 31st Annual Christmas In The Motor City Classic was held in Westland, MI.  Michigan Academy hosted the first Optional competition for the Lady Flames' 2010 season.  The Level 7 girls, lead by Rita Koenigbauer, placed 2nd as a team; as well as fielding 3 2nd Place All Arounders - Alyssa Keller, Rita Koenigbauer and Brooke Konik.  Katie Karadjoff and Amanda Holderby represented the Level 8's with Karadjoff landing 2nd on beam and floor.  She placed 3rd in the A.A.  Holderby brought home the gold medal on vault with a "very unexpected" performance.  Delina Phillips won the silver on vault at Level 9.  Amanda Stepp finished off a very tough day with a solid 2nd place vault.  Jessica Leadbetter also finished a deceptively difficult competition with a 1st place vaulting performance.  Leadbetter connected her bar routine, hitting her tkachev and blind-full beautifully, but missed on her... um... squat-on... and hit a knee on the floor on her dismount... (coach just shakes head in disbelief).

Decent start ladies.  Let's see where we can go from here!
